Chicago seeks to lure trade shows with labor settlements

City and state officials reach agreements with two unions to help reduce costs for holding conventions at McCormick Place. Illinois officials have finalized two labor agreements they say will once again make Chicago’s McCormick Place a top spot for conventions, with at least one trade show already committing as a result. McCormick Place, a convention center with 2.6 million square feet of exhibit space, had historically been an attractive option for associations looking to house trade shows.
